It took 78 excruciating days — nearly eight times longer than when the nation rushed to the Gulf Coast’s aid after Hurricane Katrina — but the House of Representatives finally did right by the victims of superstorm Sandy.
The measure carried, 241 to 180 — no thanks to 179 repulsive Republican recalcitrants, nearly 80% of the majority caucus and plenty from regions that have themselves been hard hit by natural disasters and rescued by federal aid.
