The Board of Education and Borough Council acknowledged two Boy Scouts for their preparation work to help mitigate the damage that Hurricane Sandy would blow Bloomingdale’s way.David Synol and Brendan Shoemaker of Troop 86 were recognized for making sandbags that could help stop water from surging into homes and businesses in the flood-prone areas in town including Main Street, Brandt Lane and the southern portion of the borough known as the “flats” because of its topography.
