The Oneida County Correctional Facility netted more than $180,000 for its efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
The late October hurricane caused a lot of damage to the Bellvue Hospital Center in New York City, which has an inpatient center for the mentally ill.
Some of those mentally ill inpatients have criminal histories, and when the hospital was closed after the storm, one of the places those individuals were sent the county jail here, County Corrections Division Chief Gabrielle Liddy said.
